June 14, 2010 -- Carat Security Group, world-renowned manufacturer of the Carat Duchatelet division of armored VIP vehicles, today announced the launch of two innovative new defense platforms at Eurosatory International, responding to the growing needs of security and peacekeeping forces worldwide. The Carat Defense Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV) and Unimog Logistics Platform (ULP) meet a critical need for armored, versatile, off-road vehicles for patrol and reconnaissance missions.

The Black Scorpion Fast Attack Vehicle, on display at Eurosatory International 2010, is an open-bed APC based on the Toyota HZJ79 chassis which includes a modular turret configuration and a host of security options including available protection from armor piercing ammunition, ideal for tactical transport and reconnaissance missions. The Unimog Logistics Platform utilizes the legendary Mercedes Benz Unimog chassis as a platform for a uniquely versatile, air-portable, off-road tactical vehicle featuring a large payload capacity (up to 6000kg), independent roll cages, multiple weapon fixtures and available STANAG 4569 protection.

Carat Defense, the internal security and peacekeeping division of Carat Security Group, designed and developed these new defensive platforms in concert with governmental agencies for rapid deployment to customers around the world. The FAV and Unimog LP vehicles enhance a complete lineup of defensive solutions ranging from armored truck cabins to Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and in-house ballistic glass production.
